Robotics is a powerful tool for teaching essential skills like collaboration and problem-solving. In addition to helping young people develop a variety of STEM-related abilities, it encourages engagement and excitement about the learning process.
Our robotics program takes students with little or no robotics experience to being proficient in advanced programming and operation.
Team Knightrise is proud to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition. In this competition, teams of up to 25+ students raised funds and built robots to perform prescribed tasks against competitors. Volunteer mentors lend their time and talents to each team allowing students to learn from professional engineers, programmers and adults.
In 2015, their rookie year, Team Knightrise participated in the Ventura Regional competition and won the Rookie All Star Award, advancing them to the Championship Event in St. Louis. Their success was covered in LA Parent. At the World Championship the team finished 59 out of 76 in the Tesla Division and improved their ranking with just 6 team members!
In 2016, Team Knightrise again participated in the Ventura Regional Competition. After catastrophic failures team still managed a 34 ranking and was recognized by Underwriter Laboratories. During Beach Blitz, a largely rookie team (having lost many senior team members to graduation) improved to a 19 ranking.
In 2017, Team Knightrise looks forward to competing in the Ventura Regional, March 15 – 18, 2017!
